With a solemn ceremony, during the 67th CIOR/CIOMR/NRFC Summer Congress, carried out from 3rd to 8th of August in Fulda , Germany, Bulgaria took over the Presidency of the Interallied confederation of reserve officers.
The immediate past president Commander (French Navy Reserve) Richard Roll handed over to Lt. Col. Dimitar Popov (Bulgarian Armed Forces Reserve) the flag of CIOR. President Popov presented the Presidency team and pointed out the priorities of the Bulgarian Presidency for the term 2014-2016, which are focused on strengthening of CIOR role and in increasing of the efficiency of the reserve forces of the Alliance and its partner nations’ efficiency.
Cooperation with the International Military Staff will continue, actively using the CIOR permanent representative in NATO HQ. The traditional excellent relations established with the chairmanship of the National reserve Forces Committee of NATO (NRFC) will continue, with the aim of using each opportunity to increase their effectiveness. The same applies to the relations between CIOR and its sister organization, The Interallied Confederation of Medical Reserve Officers (CIOMR).
Besides the current tasks, a major challenge for the Bulgarian Presidency will be the CIOR/CIOMR/NRFC Summer Congress which will take place in Washington D.C. in July 2015.
